The 4 Pillars of Fitness

Published over 2 years ago • 1 min read

Hey there Reader,

Here's a simplistic overview of the 4 main pillars of fitness.

I could write much more detail on each of the below, but my purpose for writing today isn't to share everything on a topic, rather to show you just how simple a healthy life can be.

Work to improve each of the below a little bit every week and your life can improve drastically.

  1. Movement.
  2. Food.
  3. Recovery.
  4. Stress.

1) Movement - Lift, run, jump and play. Move daily. In all directions and all positions. Add resistance often. Make it fun.

2) Food - Eat mostly Whole Foods. Lots of protein, fruits, veggies and water.

3) Recovery - Prioritize sleep. Both quality and quantity.

4) Stress - Not all stress is bad. Keep the good stress (the stuff that pushes you to grow and get outside of your comfort zone). Minimize the bad stress (the kind that makes you want to rip your face off).

Now you may be thinking, "c'mon Harris, this stuff is ridiculously obvious."

Yes, I know it's obvious, but most people overlook the above All. The. Time.

That's why I'm reinforcing the simple basics.

Hope it helps and talk soon!

Harris

P.S. Let me know which one of the above (Numbers 1-4) do you most often struggle with and why!

I've learned that sometimes, the goal can simply be to show up daily. Knowing that fitness is a tool to create a better life, do it daily and see the effects. When you’re not sure why you should train, know that training daily can enhance everything else in your day. Other “why’s” may emerge from there. Hope...

Reader, Can you relate to any of these? If yes, reply back with which one(s). You can say "Number ___" for example and even elaborate on it. If you'd like help with these challenges or others, let me know in the email and I'll see how I can help. Mistake #1 - Trying To Be Perfect Your diet, workout, or life will never be “perfect.” Perfectionism is often a crippling trait that stems from fear. Focus on consistency and "messy" action instead.⠀ Mistake #2 - Too Much Volume Per Workout This one...

All before 8:00 am, Chrystel got: A badass full body strength session A final bout of cardio to bring her to life Fresh air and sunshine My awesome jokes and BS Both Chrystel and I can attest to the following... Days are infinitely better when you get your muscles and lungs burning in the morning (bonus if you add in...
